Groom: Curt Hanson, 33, doctor
Hometown: Fort Worth, Texas
Wedding Location: Grand Old House
Cheri and Curt dreamed of gathering their favorite people for a sophisticated, relaxed, and intimate destination wedding. Grand Cayman offered everything they imagined, including convenient flights for their 85 guests to join in the celebration. The week before the wedding was filled with adventure and delectable cuisine: a fishing trip for the groomsmen, snorkeling and Sting Ray City boat trip with lunch for the bridesmaids, wonderful dinners at the Calypso Grill, a Rehearsal Dinner at The Reef Grill, and lots of diving trips.
At the ceremony, each guest received a straw fan with a note attached from the bride and groom: "Good friends and a gentle breeze are blessings that make our hearts sing...Cheri & Curt." Cheri was breathtaking in her romantic and breezy Ristarose dress, while Curt's pale tan suit, linen shirt, and coral tie added to "the beachy chic vibe."
Carrying orange calla lilies and orchids, extra orchids were strung on gold thread cascading down from the bouquet. "The entire staff of Celebrations were delightful to work with....professional, organized, creative, and fun!" Lime cymbidium orchids and roses, and bright color gerbera daisies, were placed in clear gel that looked like crushed ice. A tropical leaf was placed beneath each place setting and peeked out from under the gold-rimmed glass charger plates set atop stunning custom made table linens. The menu card featured a style-setting green orchid. Huge bright orange paper lanterns dressed up the tent and swung in the ocean breeze during the celebration.
Cheri's love of chocolate was evident in her wedding cake, also covered with lime green orchids, while Curt's groom's cake was a key lime pie. "Usually the groom's cake is chocolate, but I took that flavor for myself!" Cheri says.
"The fireworks were spectacular, the food and staff at the Grand Old House were exceptional....I could go on and on. We had 85 people who attended the wedding and were on the island from 4 to 10 days prior to the wedding, so we had lots of fun celebrating with them. We loved the location, adored the people, and couldn't have been happier with the overall experience! Everyone who attended the wedding is still raving about it."
