Maria and Martin left the hustle and bustle of New York City behind (she’s a ballerina with the New York City ballet, he’s an actor) and brought their dream of a beach wedding at sunset to reality when they married among 50 family members and friends in Grand Cayman.
“When we were looking for a place to host our magical wedding I came across
Sun Salutations on the internet and I knew without a doubt it was the place we both had imagined for our special day,” recalls Maria.
Guests joined them to share in the celebration from Ohio, Michigan, New Jersey, England and Dubai. Everyone got a chance to get to know one another with welcome cocktails at the Villa when they arrived. The bride and groom made everyone feel at home with welcome bags of Cayman Rum Cakes and pepper jelly along with other snacks, travel needs, personalized beach towels and beach bags. Maria and Martin also made sure their guests were able to partake in fun-filled excursions while in Grand Cayman, such as the
Dolphin Discovery Excursion and cruising with
Red Sail Sports.
Their rehearsal dinner took place at the
Kaibo Yacht Club; “We rented limousines to take us along
Seven Mile Beach for my bachelorette party, while the men rented a fishing boat for the bachelor party.”
The amazing team at
Celebrations handled all of the planning, floral and décor for Maria and Martin’s wedding and reception. Maria was breathtaking in a gown by Selia Yang and bare foot sandals by Debra Moreland while carrying a bouquet of white and light pink roses, light pink and white cymbidium orchids with pink throat and white freesia finished with diamanté stones.
Maria shares, “My Aunt Sue Rosema created the wedding cake inspired by a cupcake display in an English Bridal Magazine. She made the beautiful flowers for the top of the cupcakes in Michigan and transported them to Grand Cayman.”
“There was a double rainbow over our villa the day of the wedding and the sunset sky was unbelievable during our ceremony, not to mention the pristine white sand and beautiful turquoise water. We had a few friends tell us it was the best wedding they had ever been to and many of them said they’d had the vacation of a lifetime as well. Also our families are still wishing they had that vacation to look forward to again this year.”
“Being able to make our wedding a vacation for our friends and family in such a beautiful location was the best part of our wedding experience. “
Maria and Martin had time to relax and kick off their life together as husband and wife while honeymooning at
The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman before heading home to NYC.
