Jeremy grew up in Vancouver, Canada but fell in love with Grand Cayman while studying and soon made it his home. He also fell in love with Caymanian Laura and they both knew it was the perfect location for 73 family members and friends to share their special day.
The night before the wedding, Jeremy’s parents, who also now make Grand Cayman their home, hosted an amazing welcome beach party. Many guests continued the fun by attending the John Legend concert at Camana Bay afterward!
The ceremony and reception were held at Kaibo Beach Bar, the oldest and the favorite local beach bar in Cayman Kai, combining the feel of down-to-earth beach shack with the elegance of one of the Island’s finer establishments. Carlos of Every Bloomin’ Thing incorporated hibiscus and bougainvillea throughout the bouquets and boutonnieres as well as overflowing from the conch shells lining the aisle. Pale pink hibiscus was placed on the two empty chairs in memory of Laura’s parents.
The starfish featured on the wedding invitations were continued in large starfish and raffia ornaments hanging on the chairs lining the aisle, and smaller starfish adorning the table settings. For a punch of fun, the table-seating list was written with brightly colored chalk on a large blackboard and the table names were all islands that meant something to the Bride and Groom.
Laura was breathtaking in a Mark Melia one-shouldered gown featuring an ivory Chantilly Lace sheath and white silk orchids in her hair. The groom wore light grey pants and a white fitted button down shirt with pink paisley inner collar and inner cuffs custom made by Crichton Bespoke of Chester. The bridesmaids also had starfish on their dresses and everyone was barefoot for the ceremony.
Faith Gealey-Brown of CAYKE (Cayman Cakes and Custom Confection) created a delicious three-tiered rum cake adorned with pink hibiscus flowers, accompanied by rum cake 'cupcakes'. Flutist Sue Horrocks and Violinist Kate Allenger provided lovely music at the ceremony and reception. DJ Jacko got the party started later that evening.
At the end of the celebration everyone departed together on a boat called Sweet Romance!
“The day after the wedding we arranged champagne brunch at the Westin and followed by watching the Super Bowl at Billy Bones with those who still had the energy!”
Best party of the day? “The whole day was amazing. One friend said it was the best wedding he'd ever been to - even over his own wedding!”
