On April 23, 2005, world’s greatest professional vert skater, Tony Hawk did the honors and officially opened the Black Pearl Skate park. The park is ranked as the second largest skate park in the world and is the largest in the Western Hemisphere.
The Black Pearl Skate Park encompasses 62,000 sq. feet of concrete bowls and half and quarter pipes. The park features three main courses; expert, intermediate and beginner; with both a flow and street course for each level. Staff supervision is guaranteed at all times, making it a secure and fun place for children. Skateboards, scooters and BMX bicycles are welcomed. All visitors under the age of 18 must wear mandatory protective head gear. Skateboards and protective gear are available for rental at the Black Pearl Shop.
All visitors must sign the Liability and park rules forms prior to using the park. Forms can be signed at the park or located on the web page, www.blackpearl.ky
