Ministry of Finance, Tourism and Development

The Department of Tourism was established in 1974 and falls under the mandate of the Ministry of Financial Services, Tourism and Development. This Ministry organises and directs the activities for many departments all of which have similar goals; to protect the environment, support the economy, promote the islands as a premier destination for visitors and to support local businesses and business people.

    • The Tourism Attraction Board (TAB) is responsible for managing five of Cayman’s most fascinating attractions:

  • Hazard Management Cayman Islands Committee
    • The committee directs emergency preparedness and response at the national level, administering the National Emergency Plan for the Cayman Islands. That plan sets out how the committee will operate before, during and after an emergency.
    • The committee's purpose is to ensure that all practical precautions are taken in advance to minimise injury to people and loss of property.
    • The committee is made up of senior civil servants, including the Deputy Chief Secretary as chairman, and members of the community, including representatives from the Red Cross and utilities.
