Protecting your personalprivacy is important to the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (“we”, “our”,“us”, or “CIDOT”).  The purpose of thisPrivacy Policy is to help you understand how CIDOT collects, uses, and safeguardsthe information you provide to us.  ThisPrivacy Policy is solely applicable for the website located atwww.caymanislands.ky (the “Website”) and its associated services.

By using or accessing theWebsite, you signify your agreement to be bound by this Privacy Policy.  IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THIS PRIVACY POLICYYOU MAY NOT ACCESS OR OTHERWISE USE THE WEBSITE.

Personally IdentifiableInformation That We Collect

CIDOT will not collectpersonally identifiable information from you unless you voluntarily provide it tous.  The personally identifiableinformation which you may provide to us could include your complete name,e-mail address, phone number and postal address for purposes such ascorresponding with us, processing brochure requests, signing up for our newsletter,posting a blog or forum comment, entering a sweepstakes, or participating in anonline survey.

Non-Personal or AggregateInformation That We Collect

When you access the Website,we may automatically collect aggregate or anonymous information about usercontact with and use of the Website, such signing as the type of computer andoperating system, web pages viewed, browser type, referring service, usage andbrowsing habits on the Website and similar data.  We may aggregate demographic information collectedfrom our users (such as the number of users in a particular state) in a mannerwhich does not identify any one individual. We may also collect certain information passively.  Through technologies like cookies, webbeacons and tags, we may collect information about how you use theWebsite.  Please see the section below oncookies for more information.

We may receive informationfrom third parties.  For example, we mayreceive information about you from social networking websites, subject to theirrepresentation that they have a legal right to share such information withus.  CIDOT utilizes Google Analyticsfeatures based on Display Advertising (e.g., Remarketing, Google DisplayNetwork Impression Reporting, the DoubleClick Campaign Manager integration, orGoogle Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting.  Visitors can opt-out of Google Analytics forDisplay Advertising and customize Google Display Network ads using the AdsSettings.

CIDOT will not facilitate themerging of personally-identifiable information with non-personally identifiableinformation, such as age, gender, or interests, previously collected fromDisplay Advertising features that is based on the DoubleClick cookie unless youhave robust notice of, and the user’s prior affirmative (i.e., opt-in) consentto, that merger.

Information Use

We will only use yourpersonally identifiable information as described below, unless you havespecifically consented to another type of use, either at the time thepersonally identifiable information is collected from you or through some otherform of consent from you or notification to you:

-  We may use your personally identifiableinformation to respond to your inquires or requests.

-  We may use your personally identifiableinformation to send you brochures, newsletters and emails from time to time,but we will not provide your personally identifiable information to thirdparties for them to contact you directly unless otherwise permitted by thisPrivacy Policy or unless you provide your consent.

-  We may permit our vendors and subcontractors toaccess your personally identifiable information, but they are only permitted todo so in connection with performing services for us.  They are not authorized by us to use the informationfor their own benefit.

Non-personally identifiableor aggregate information may be shared with any number of parties, providedthat such information shall not specifically identify you.

Information Storage

Information may betransmitted to and stored in the United States, England, France, Germany,China, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Canada, the Cayman Islands and/or Indiaand, by using the Website, you consent to information being transmitted to andform and stored in such locations.


“Cookies” are pieces of informationthat may be placed on your computer by a service for the purpose offacilitating and enhancing your communication and interaction with thatservice.  Many services use cookies forthese purposes.  We may use cookies (andsimilar items such as clear gifs, web beacons, tags, etc.) on the Website tocustomize your visit and for other purposes to make your visit more convenientor to enable us to enhance our service. For example, we may use cookies to allow easier access to your specificcountry of origin on the global landing page of the Website.  You may stop or restrict the placement ofcookies on your computer or flush them from your browser by adjusting your webbrowser preferences, in which case you may still use the Website, but it mayinterfere with some of its functionality. Cookies and similar items are not used by us to automatically retrievepersonally identifiable information from your computer without your knowledge.


The security of yourpersonally identifiable information is very important to us.  When we collect your personally identifiableinformation online or offline, we use reasonable efforts to protect it fromunauthorized access.  However, due to theinherent open nature of the Internet, we cannot guarantee that your personallyidentifiable information will be completely free from unauthorized access bythird parties such as hackers and your use of the Website demonstrates yourassumption of this risk.

Your Disclosures in Blogs andOther Social Media

You should be aware thatpersonally identifiable information which you voluntarily include and transmitonline in a publicly accessible blog, social media platform or otherwise may beviewed and used by others without any restrictions.  We are unable to control such uses of yourpersonally identifiable information, and by using such services you assume therisk that the personally identifiable information provided by you may be viewedand used by third parties for any number of purposes.


We do not intentionallycollect or solicit personally identifiable information from children under theage of 13.  When we become aware thatpersonally identifiable information from a child under 13 has been collectedwithout such child’s parent or guardian’s consent, we will use all reasonableefforts to delete such information from our database.

Discontinue ReceivingCommunications

Unsubscribe or opt-outrequests may be sent to us at contact_us@caymanislands.ky and we will processyour request within a reasonable time after receipt.  In addition, you may request to discontinuereceiving communications from us by clicking on the “remove me from this list”link at the bottom of our emails.  Tomake this request, look for the language: “To unsubscribe from this e-mail,click here”.  However, we are notresponsible for removing your personally identifiable information from thelists of any third party who has previously been provided your information inaccordance with this Privacy Policy or with your consent.  You should contact such third partiesdirectly.
