DIVE SITE OF THE MONTH: LIGHTHOUSE POINT

Lighthouse Point

Located on NW Point Road, 1/2 mile south of the Cayman Turtle Farm, Divetech at Lighthouse Point offers a unique experience, being the first dive shop in Cayman to be completely powered by solar and wind and uses reclaimed water for divers rinse tanks, showers and more.

What's more, the reefs are less than 2 minutes from shore which couldn't be better for a shallow dive that's great for all ages, in 20 to 60 feet of water. As if that wasn't enough, the coral reef is home to large schools of grunts, snappers, tangs, tarpon, schoolmasters, barracuda, squid and turtles galore and you can venture along the mini wall both north and south of the entrance from the dock to explore this pristine underwater world. Colourful sponges in shades of yellow, purple, orange, green and pastels are abundant all along the mini and deep wall, with dozens of huge barrel sponges that make for great photo ops. Easy navigation is created through multiple dive buoys and underwater lines that will take you to the deep wall and Twin Peaks or Turtle Canyon for those wishing an easy wall dive from shore.

This fabulous site also boasts artefacts hidden in the large craters and is designated as an historical archeological site by the National Trust.
