Amber and Andrew sought out a tropical destination that was fairly central to the east and west coast of the US to accommodate their 47 guests. Searching online they soon discovered The Reef Resort and found everything they needed. “It was an easy flight and the drive to the other side of the island was well worth it, to experience the low-key tranquility of the east end that did not feel touristy. Rather it felt local, mellow and totally what we were looking for. The staff at the hotel was great; the beaches were beautiful as was the resort.”
A welcome beach BBQ was held at the Reef Resort, where almost all of the 50 guests were accommodated, enjoying the great ambience – waves, sand, tiki torches, music, and a delicious buffet. A spa getaway to the Ritz Carlton, a snorkeling-boat excursion, moonlight kayaking on the bay, Rum Point and visits into town were just a few of the activities family and friends took part in.
And planning the wedding was stress free as well. “Danielle Cococcia was amazing. I feel like I have a new friend! She truly listened to what we had to say and what we envisioned our wedding to be. I totally trusted her.”
“On the day of the wedding, the afternoon was quite hot before the ceremony. An hour before the wedding it started to pour. Afterwards the air was extremely calm and the colors in the sky were just beautiful. The rain ended up being a very positive thing (and good luck)!”
Both Barefoot, the bride wore an Aimee Lauren Couture empire waist bias cut candle-light Italian satin back silk crepe gown with Swarovski Crystal beaded straps, while the groom wore off-white silk pants and a short-sleeved, orange and off-white patterned silk shirt from Tommy Bahama.
The white folding chairs wrapped in orange chair ties were set up on the beach along with seashells and scattered rose petals to create an aisle and then also used for the reception. Amber carried a bouquet of apricot calla lilies wrapped in champagne silk ribbon with pearl and rhinestone hairpins to add sparkle. “This tradition was going amongst several girlfriends for wearing the same hairpins on their wedding day. This bride has short hair and it didn’t work in my hair!”
The candlelight dinner celebration continued under a 40 x 40 white tent with liner and “up-lighting” on the outside. Four square-tables were decorated in white linen with orange runner-tablecloths down the center and a large cylinder glass vase filled with water and orange goldfish. Candles illuminated the room and tiki torches surrounded the perimeter for additional ambiance.
A squared 4 tiered Cayman Cake - Key Lime Rum with cream cheese frosting - from “Ye Old English Bakery” had icing made to look like a thick orange ribbon at the base of each layer along with apricot orchids and small “polka dots” throughout.
“Rebecca Davison was great. Our wedding photographs turned out beautiful and they were what we envisioned – candid and fun.”
“We did a “backwards honeymoon” – as we were there for over a week before the wedding and just a couple of days afterward. Relaxing on the beach the day after getting married and having dinner at the Lighthouse was a perfect way to celebrate! There was not one person who attended who did not thoroughly enjoy themselves. The only complaint was that they couldn’t stay longer!”
