Columbus Replica Ship Santa Clara (Nina II) Now Available for Tours in Grand Cayman Publication Date: 1/31/2008
The newly built Columbus Replica Ship 'Santa Clara', also known as Nina II, is now open for day sailing trips, sunset cruises and private charters in Grand Cayman. The 'Nina' is located at her private dock at Safehaven in the Rtiz Carlton Canal.
On deck, the ship is rigged and sailed as ships were 500 years ago and there is cushioned bench seating for 100 people. Down below, the 800 sq. ft. air conditioned main salon and galley is finished in wood, granite and marble from Brazil. During the 2 hour sail, guests have many choices while onboard. They can take the helm, set the sails, learn the ropes and sailing techniques of 15 Century ships; sunbathe on the poop deck; or just relax and watch a video of the building of the ship in the Brazilian jungle on the flat screen TV's.
The Santa Clara will be offering a morning 2 hour sail on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:30am to 11:30am. The price is CI$35 (US$45) for adults; Children 12 and under are CI$18 (US$23). There will be a 20% discount for residents.
